I thought I’d treat myself tonight. Since I started this page I have given up my habit of just drinking my favourites, and anyone who knows me well knows I am a man who lives on his favourites.
I’ve taken on the responsibility of creating a page like this, and finding more new favourites that truly meet my objective for this page of sharing with you truly ‘Great Wine’.
Well in the search for more greats, I’ve found a couple of duds, and more on them in a seperate review. That’s another half bottle in the fridge for cooking wine. We’re gonna have to do a whole lot more cooking!
So coming back to what I’m drinking tonight, I couldn’t bear the risk of a dud third night in a row, so I opened one that I haven’t reviewed here before, but which I knew for certain would be a great wine!
Oh My God, it’s Great Wine!
It’s the Taylors 2017 Jaraman Clare Valley & McLaren Vale Shiraz. Jaraman is a label used by Taylors for a Premium Wine using fruit from an iconic region of an iconic quality.
I reviewed their Cabernet Sauvignon on October 4th.
This is such a beautiful wine. It is smooth with a full body, all the taste, but no harsh edges, yet not light. This is a wine that says Shiraz is such an amazing grape when well executed, creating body, but with a grace and warmth that just glides across the palate and down the throat.
Its palate is its strong point, while it’s nose is delicious yet subtle.
Were a special occasion coming up, and if you wanted to give a gift that you know was special, but which wouldn’t break the bank, but feels like it probably should have, this is your wine.
I got it at Dan Murphys for $AUD 22.95 and it is a wine I am very grateful for tonight after a couple of days in the trenches trying to find Great Wines for my readers and failing.
This is a wine that doesn’t fail
