Tonight I treated myself to an old favourite, and another night in the Barossa with an old friend this time.
Tonight I revisited a wine from the Langmeil Winery in the Barossa who believe they have the oldest Shiraz vines in the world. I have been to their cellars multiple times, and they are a true experience of another era with ancient beams in the rafters, a low ceiling, and tonnes of charm and history.
Tonight I had their 2017 Three Gardens Grenache Shiraz Mataro.
I dont make a secret of my love for GSMs. This one is special. One of the the things that lights me up about a Great Wine is when I can’t get enough of its nose, when its as much fun to inhale it by nose as it is to drink it. The Three Gardens is such a wine.
It’s nose is a joy to indulge in, while it’s palate is middle weighted, complex, and a beautiful experience from one end of the evening to the other. It’s perfect weight.
I got it from Dan Murphy’s and at $AUD 18.99 it’s in the Premium Wine segment, and it wholly and completely belongs there.
It’s a wine I’ve bought many times before and one I’ll buy it again. It is a Great Wine for sure, and another one for Christmas Gifts or for the special bottle for the Christmas Table.
