I’ve had some crackers in the past couple of months since I started this blog to celebrate great wines.
This one is the equal best wine so far, right on a par with the 2013 Luna Sangiovese that my lovely wife PJ and I had in Salt Lake City in September.
It’s a 2016 Nugan Cabernet Sauvignon from the Coonawarra region.
It had the most incredibly complex palate, mid weighted, cleansing, with layers of flavour that were almost mesmerising. Its nose too was an absolute delight.
I bought it at Dan Murphy’s and it was a staff recommendation, and is a James Halliday 94 Point Wine. I personally think James is being a hard marker.
Dan’s had it priced at $AUD 21.99 for one bottle, or two for $AUD 40.00, and it is phenomenal value at either price point.
I will be heading back to Dan’s and picking up at least a pair tomorrow.
This most definitely meets my definition of a great wine, and at a very accessible price for this quality.
